Fridays are best. Saturdays are ok.  720 N. Wells St. (312) 397-0600.  Downtown, just off Ohio St.  This club has 4 floors of dancing and a live salsa band every Friday night (at about 10:30).  No cover charge before 11:00 on Fridays and no cover with a website pass before 11:00 on Saturdays.  There is a complimentary lesson given by Anyes Daskal at about 8:30 on Fridays.  The lesson is beginner and intermediate levels taught together.  The Friday crowd is relatively friendly and usually not difficult to find dance partners.  Street parking is scarce after 8:00, but several lots within a block for about $12.  Drinks are relatively expensive.  $5 for bottled water, $6-8 for beer, $8 for margaritas.

 

(Thursdays only)  632 N. Dearborn downtown Chicago, just off Ohio St. (312) 266-1944.   Salsa upstairs at "Club X". $5 - 7 cover.  Complimentary salsa lesson 9:30 to 10:30 (decent quality). Live bands every week start after 11.  Excalibur is a really nice club on multiple levels.  Complimentary finger food (as of the last report).  Friendly crowd.  Street parking on Thursdays is not too difficult to find.  If you find yourself in Chicago on a Thursday night, check this place out.

Wednesdays.  $7.  Willowbrook has a giant beautiful dance floor.  Similar or larger than the old Eagle's ballroom in Milwaukee.  Dancing there is a real treat.  Lessons given by Nino 7:30-8:45 beginner thru advanced.  Open dancing till 11:00.  All latin dances are played, not just salsa.  All ages.

Fridays.  358 W. Ontario downtown (walking distance from Club 720).  Doors open at 9pm. Free Intermediate Advance turn pattern class with Miguel Mendez at 9:15pm sharp. Free style dancing until 2am. No charge to get in. 21 to enter. Valet parking available. Dress to Impress.
